Skiing & Snowboarding

Winter is where Killington built its reputation.

As the largest ski resort in Eastern North America, Killington offers approximately 1,500 acres of terrain across six peaks, with 155 trails and 19 lifts serving everything from dedicated learning areas and long groomed cruisers to glades, bumps, and challenging expert terrain.

Killington is also known for one of the longest ski seasons in the East, often opening early in the season and continuing well into spring when conditions allow.

For those still finding their mountain legs, Killington’s Mountain Sports School offers ski and snowboard instruction for a range of ages and ability levels, while slopeside rentals make it easy for first-timers and traveling visitors to gear up.

Best for: Skiing, snowboarding, families, lessons, long-season turns, and everything from first runs to expert terrain.

More Winter Fun

You do not need to stick to the trails to enjoy winter at Killington. Explore terrain parks built for every skill level, take the whole group tubing, or earn your turns on a designated uphill route.

Freestyle skiers and snowboarders have an entire network of terrain parks to explore at Killington. Killington Parks range from beginner-friendly progression areas with smaller features to advanced parks built around larger jumps, rails, and creative terrain. Different parks open and evolve throughout the winter, giving riders room to progress as their skills grow.

Best for: Freestyle skiing and riding, progression, rails, jumps, and terrain-park laps.

You do not need skis or a snowboard to have fun on the snow. Killington’s lift-served Tubing Park offers groomed tubing lanes and an easy way for families, groups, and non-skiers to get in on the winter experience. It is an especially good addition to a ski vacation when you are looking for something everyone can enjoy together.

Best for: Families, groups, non-skiers, and an easy winter activity.

For visitors who prefer to earn the descent, Killington also permits designated winter uphill travel by skinning and snowshoeing when routes and conditions allow. An uphill travel pass is required, and available routes can change throughout the season based on grooming, snowmaking, and mountain operations. Visitors should always review current Resort guidelines before heading uphill.

Best for: Skinning, snowshoeing, fitness, and a quieter way to experience the mountain.

Killington Bike Park

When the snow melts, the lifts keep moving.

Killington Bike Park is New England’s largest lift-served mountain bike park, with more than 30 miles of trails and terrain designed for a wide range of riding abilities. Three lifts provide access across multiple mountain areas, with trails ranging from approachable flow and progression routes to technical downhill and freeride terrain.

Rentals, lessons, and youth camps are available for visitors who are new to downhill mountain biking or looking to build their skills.

Best for: Downhill mountain biking, families with adventurous kids, experienced riders, lessons, and lift-served trail access.

Summer on the Mountain

Trade ski boots for golf shoes, ride the gondola to the summit, hike the Green Mountains, or spend the day at the Adventure Center. Summer at Killington has something for every pace.

Trade ski boots for golf shoes at Killington’s 18-hole championship golf course. Designed by Geoffrey Cornish, the par-72 course stretches 6,186 yards through mountain terrain at roughly 2,000 feet in elevation. Elevation changes, streams, and Green Mountain views give the course a distinctly Vermont character, while a practice facility, putting green, Pro Shop, and Clubhouse Grill round out the experience.

The course typically operates from late spring into the fall, weather permitting.

Best for: Golf getaways, scenic rounds, leagues, tournaments, and pairing outdoor recreation with a mountain stay.

You do not have to hike or bike to reach the top of Killington Peak. The K-1 Express Gondola carries sightseeing visitors to the 4,241-foot summit, offering expansive views across Vermont’s Green Mountains along the way. At the top, guests can explore nearby hiking trails, enjoy the scenery, and stop at Peak Lodge for a meal or drink. Fall is an especially popular time to ride, when the surrounding mountains transform with Vermont foliage.

Killington’s summer trail network offers approximately 15 miles of designated hiking trails, along with connections to the Appalachian Trail and Long Trail. Routes range from scenic mountain walks to more challenging terrain, and gondola access makes it possible to combine hiking with a summit visit or a meal at the Peak Lodge.

Best for: Sightseeing, foliage, photography, hiking, summit adventures, and a mountain experience without a strenuous climb.

For families and groups looking for something beyond the trails, the Snowshed Adventure Center turns the base area into a summer playground. Activities include the Beast Mountain Coaster, Skye Ropes Course, Zip Line Racer, Soaring Eagle, and other family-friendly challenges, with attractions varying slightly by season. Killington expanded the Adventure Center again in 2026 with new additions including the Beast Tower and Climbing Wall.

Visitors can choose individual activities or make a full day of exploring each attraction in the Adventure Center.

Best for: Families, kids, groups, mixed-ability outings, and a break from hiking or biking.
