There is more than one way to experience Killington.
For generations, visitors have come to the mountain for skiing and snowboarding, but today, the Killington experience stretches across all four seasons. Winter brings long days on the slopes and lively après. Summer trades skis for bikes, hiking boots, and golf clubs. Fall transforms the mountain into one of Vermont’s most spectacular places to experience foliage, while events, dining, family activities, and scenic adventures give visitors plenty to discover between seasons.
Whether you come to chase adventure, spend time together, take in the view, or simply enjoy life in the mountains, Killington makes it easy to build a trip around your own pace.
Winter is where Killington earned its reputation.
Across six distinct mountain peaks, skiers and riders can explore terrain ranging from dedicated learning areas and groomed cruisers to glades, bumps, terrain parks and challenging expert runs. Killington is also known for one of the longest ski seasons in the East, with a commitment to snowmaking that often keeps turns going well into spring.
But a winter day here does not have to revolve entirely around skiing or snowboarding. Tubing, snowshoeing, uphill travel, mountain dining, live entertainment and a lively après scene offer plenty of ways to enjoy the season on and off the slopes.
And when spring arrives elsewhere in Vermont, Killington often keeps winter going. Sunny laps on Superstar, outdoor drinks, music and the unmistakable energy of spring skiing have become part of the mountain’s identity.
Come for: Skiing and snowboarding, spring turns, terrain parks, tubing, mountain dining and classic Vermont winter.
When the snow melts, Killington does not slow down.
Summer transforms the Resort into a mountain playground with lift-served mountain biking, an 18-hole golf course, hiking, scenic gondola rides, family attractions and on-mountain dining. Killington operates as a summer destination from late spring into October, giving visitors another way to experience the same landscape that defines the winter season.
Mountain bikers can explore miles of lift-served terrain, golfers can play among the Green Mountains, and families can spend the day bouncing between outdoor adventures at Snowshed. Summer also brings concerts, competitions and events to the base areas, creating an atmosphere that feels distinctly different from winter while still unmistakably Killington.
Come for: Mountain biking, golf, hiking, family adventures, outdoor events and long summer days in the mountains.
Few seasons show off the Green Mountains quite like fall.
As the landscape shifts from summer green to brilliant reds, oranges and golds, Killington becomes a natural base for a Vermont foliage getaway. The K-1 Express Gondola carries visitors toward the 4,241-foot summit for sweeping views across the surrounding mountains, while hiking and biking offer opportunities to experience the season from the trail.
Fall also brings some of Killington’s favorite annual traditions, including Brewfest, Harvest Faire and other seasonal events, making it easy to pair outdoor exploration with a little mountain-town celebration.
Come for: Foliage, scenic gondola rides, hiking, biking, photography, fall events and crisp Vermont mountain air.
Scenic rides, family adventures, lessons, après, big-event weekends and a second mountain next door — there are plenty of ways to make Killington your own.
You do not have to be an athlete to experience the top of Killington. A ride aboard the K-1 Express Gondola offers one of the easiest ways to take in the scale of the Green Mountains. The gondola climbs toward Killington Peak, where visitors can explore summit trails, stop at Peak Lodge or simply spend some time enjoying the view. It is an especially memorable experience during foliage season.
Come for: Mountain views, sightseeing, photography, foliage and an accessible way to experience the summit.
Killington offers plenty of adventure, but you do not have to be an expert skier or downhill mountain biker to enjoy it. Beginner terrain, lessons, equipment rentals, child care and family-oriented programming make it easier for visitors of different ages and abilities to experience the mountain together. During summer, the Bike Park, Adventure Center, hiking, golf, and sightseeing give families even more ways to spend the day outside.
The resort’s multiple base areas also allow families to build a day around what works for them, whether that means children’s lessons at Ramshead, adult lessons at Snowshed, an afternoon of tubing, or a summer spent riding the Mountain Coaster.
Come for: Family vacations, first-time adventures, lessons, kids’ activities, and making mountain memories together.
Your first trip to Killington does not have to begin with experience. Killington offers instruction for skiing, snowboarding, and mountain biking, with programs ranging from introductory lessons to skill development for more experienced athletes. Youth programs and camps provide opportunities for younger visitors to build confidence and progress in the mountains as well.
For first-time visitors, equipment rentals and resort services make it possible to arrive without owning all the gear you need.
Come for: Lessons, youth programs, skill building, and trying something completely new.
The Killington experience does not end with the last run of the day. Base lodges, patios, umbrella bars, live music, and mountain restaurants create gathering places throughout the resort, while the surrounding Killington community expands the experience with locally owned restaurants, bars, shops, and entertainment along Killington Road and beyond.
In winter, après might mean warming up with friends after a ski day. In spring, it can mean sunshine and music beside Superstar. Summer brings outdoor decks and concerts, while fall pairs mountain views with seasonal events and Vermont flavors.
Come for: Après, live music, mountain patios, local flavor, and spending a little more time together.
Some weekends change the entire energy of Killington. Major competitions, festivals, and community traditions bring thousands of athletes, spectators and visitors to the mountain throughout the year. From world-class alpine racing and the Spartan Race to Killington Brewfest, summer concerts, and fall celebrations, events offer another reason to plan a Killington getaway.
Beyond the resort calendar, events throughout the Killington community add even more opportunities to experience the destination like a local. See Annual Events or the Events Calendar.
Come for: Major sporting events, festivals, live music, seasonal celebrations and weekends built around something special.
Just a short drive from Killington, Pico Mountain offers another side of the resort experience. Pico has a character all its own, with a classic Vermont mountain atmosphere and terrain that appeals to families, longtime skiers and riders, and visitors looking for a more relaxed day on snow. Killington and Pico operate together, giving visitors access to two distinct mountain experiences with the same Killington lift ticket.
Pico also serves as a gathering place for major events, including Killington Brewfest. For visitors staying several days, spending time at both mountains is an easy way to see two different sides of the region. Learn more about Pico Mountain.
Come for: Classic Vermont skiing, families, a quieter mountain atmosphere and another way to explore the Killington region.
A Killington vacation does not need to follow a single itinerary.
You can spend sunrise to sunset outside, or make the mountain the backdrop for a slower getaway. Ski all day and head into town for dinner. Ride the gondola and linger over lunch at the summit. Bring the family for a weekend of firsts. Chase foliage in October, return for snow in winter, and come back with your bike when summer arrives.
The resort may be at the center of the experience, but Killington extends well beyond the mountain. Explore our restaurants, lodging properties, shops, services, events and local businesses to discover everything the Killington community has waiting for you.
